Where We Are in the Search

We have received applications from a few candidates, and a couple are currently moving through the initial phases of our hiring process. While we’re still early in the search, we’re encouraged to see things moving forward.

What Does Our Hiring Process Look Like?

Our process includes several steps designed to help us prayerfully and carefully discern the right person to shepherd our students.

Generally, those steps include:

• Initial Screening: Reviewing applications, spiritual gifts, leadership, communication tendencies, and emotional and spiritual maturity assessments, references, and alignment with ACF’s mission, vision, doctrine, and culture.

• Leadership Interviews: Multiple conversations with church leadership, followed by an interview with our elders for candidates who continue through the process.

• Ministry and Family Involvement: Candidates who move forward following the elder interview will have opportunities to preach, spend time with our students, and meet with student leaders and a group of parents before an official offer is made.

We believe it’s important that the people who will be directly impacted by this role have opportunities to get to know a potential Student Pastor. We also want to observe how candidates teach, connect with students, and interact with families and leaders.

What’s Next?

We’ll continue working through the initial phases with our current candidates while remaining open to others the Lord may bring.

We don’t have a firm timeline to share yet. Our desire is to move forward diligently and wisely as we wait on the Lord’s timing.

In the meantime, we’re grateful for Michael and April Watkins, Sharon Wegman, and our incredible student leaders who are faithfully helping care for and disciple our students.

Please continue praying for wisdom and discernment for our student team, elders and leadership team, for the candidates and their families, and for our students during this season.

Our heart remains the same: to raise up a generation of students who love Jesus, know His Word, live in biblical community, and join Him in His mission.
